Barker v. The Elms of Charleston Homeowner’s Association
This case involved a motorized treadmill which was put into use at a retirement community. The client suffered a shattered kneecap when the treadmill started unexpectedly. Suit was filed in Charleston County, and the summary jury trial resulted in a verdict of $799,517.45.
Estate of Moore v. Heartland Healthcare Center:
Nursing home neglect case involving the removal of a PEG feeding tube, improper reinsertion of a PEG feeding tube, and failure to monitor the patient. The case also involved issues of neglect such as failure to properly feed the patient and monitor her vital body functions. Suit was filed in Berkeley County and settled at mediation for a confidential amount.
